Don’t just see the world. Be part of it.

Don’t just see the world.
Be part of it.

Friendship Force is a global network where small groups of people travel to other countries and stay in each other’s homes, sharing everyday life and building genuine friendships along the way.

How it Works

Friendship Force is built on a simple exchange model. Members take part in organised “journeys”, travelling as guests and, if they choose, hosting visitors in return. These experiences offer a chance to share culture, everyday life, and build real connections with people around the world.

Most travel is about places. Friendship Force is about people. Instead of hotels and tours, you stay with locals, share meals, and experience a place through the lives of the people who live there. It’s a more personal and meaningful way to travel, built on connection rather than sightseeing alone.

A different way to travel

Our Sunshine Coast club is part of this global network, offering a welcoming and active local community.

Throughout the year, members enjoy hosting visitors, travelling on national and international journeys, and taking part in regular meetings and social events. From casual catch-ups to shared travel experiences, there are many ways to get involved.

A proud local history

Friendship Force Sunshine Coast began in 1989, when founding president Glenys Marsh invited local residents to host visiting ambassadors from Atlanta, USA. The response from the community was overwhelming, and the club was officially formed that same year and chartered in 1991 as one of the early Friendship Force clubs in Australia.

Since then, the club has grown into a vibrant part of the global Friendship Force network, hosting visitors from around the world and sending local ambassadors overseas on cultural exchanges. Over the decades, it has built a strong tradition of home hosting, international friendship, and community involvement on the Sunshine Coast.
